Fall Snack Mix

It’s such a shame that homemade treats are frowned upon for trick-or-treating, because there are so many festive homemade treats out there for Halloween! Luckily, my coworkers trust me enough to know that I won’t poison them, so I mixed up some of this snack mix to take to work this week for Halloween. It is ridiculously easy to make, and can easily be adapted to cater to your own tastes. I stuck with cereal, pretzels, marshmallows, and Reese’s pieces and candy corn to give it a festive Halloween look. For a slightly healthier version, you could easily add in some nuts, raisins or dried fruit.

Fall Snack Mix
Yields: 10 cups

Ingredients:
6 cups Chex or Crispix cereal
1 cup pretzels
6 tablespoons butter, melted
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup Reese’s pieces or M+M’s
1 cup mini marshmallows
1 cup candy corn

Directions:
Pre-heat the oven to 275 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat and set aside.

Melt the butter in a large bowl, then toss together with the cereal and pretzels until evenly coated. In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar and cinnamon, then toss with the cereal mixture to evenly coat. Spread the cereal mixture onto the baking pan and bake for 20 minutes.

After removing from the oven, allow to cool completely. Then, stir together with the Reese’s, candy corn and marshmallows. Serve in a large bowl for a party or package into small bags to give out to friends.

Hmm is anyone else encountering problems with the images on this blog loading?
I’m trying to figure out if its a problem on my end
or if it’s the blog. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

For some reason I cannot print this recipe. Keeps telling me I can’t print due to long-running script. It has told me the same thing for 2 days now.

This is sooo good!!! I made these treat cups for my sons preschool Halloween party. The teachers all asked me for the recipe! :) Maybe it was my oven, but I had to bake about 35-40 min (stirring every 15 min) until it got crisp. Very easy to customize with any candy you like. Will be making again, for sure. Thanks for sharing this!
